Okay folks, the experiment has run its course, so let's see how we did:

A: Scorpio
B: Aries
C: Libra
D: Leo
E: Sagittarius
F: Capricorn
G: Gemini
H: Taurus
I: Virgo
J: Pisces
K: Cancer
L: Aquarius

I had three people (two commenters and one e-mail entry) correctly identify their sign without saying that they were a combination of more than two descriptions. The most uncanny was Saira's entry. Born on the cusp between Sagittarius and Capricorn, she correctly identified herself as both E and F.

I had a lot of people e-mail me with comments like "well, I am an X, and we're known for being blah, but that's not on the list." As I stated before, the point of this little endeavour was to see if people could recognise the less celebrated traits supposedly associated with their sun signs. These results, limited though they may be, would seem to indicate that people have some difficulty assigning their personalities to one of 12 rather restrictive categories.

Uncle Vinny raised a good point, and allowed me this opportunity to relate a little anecdote. When I was living in Limoges, there was a girl living down the street from me named Heidi. Over the course of three years of riding the bus to school together, we learned some interesting things about one another, bit by bit. We were both Libras. We were both born on September 23rd. In 1978. In the same hospital in Lahr, Germany. At approximately the same time of day. We had very little in common with one another, and had a lot more in common with our relatives and peers, most of whom were not fellow Libras.

I'll agree with intellectual and perhaps optimistic (although it varies). But I'm not superficial! I'm not. Just because I'm sitting here in the lobby of the W hotel for 2 hours doing work email instead of walking over to the conference center because it's raining outside and I don't want my hair to be wet and totally wacky looking for my last partner meeting of the day is no reason to call me superficial.

Where's the statistics? Show us the data! We're losing sleep out here! :-)
