Rx The Casbah: Update
In case you were wondering what a trip to the ER, complete with blood tests, a lower-leg ultrasound, and a lung CT is worth, I got my explanation of benefits today. Had I not been lucky enough to have insurance, I'd be facing a bill of US$3139.20. Talk about a barrier to access.

Yeah. I can't tell you how many times I thank my lucky stars for the health insurance coverage my employer provides me and my family. It's really really good coverage (no co-pays on anything, even perscriptions). Especially given that we're averaging a visit to the pediatrician every 2 weeks, and not to mention the fact that it would have cost us about $6000 US just for giving birth to Baby Girl (and that's a birth with virtually no complications) had we not had that coverage. As long as this company doesn't mess with its medical benefits, I will be a faithful and productive employee. But I cannot even imagine what our life would be like if we didn't have that level of coverage.
