Back in the saddle again

Posted by saedigh at 07:29 AM on August 21, 2009

So, today is the last day of my second week back on The Job. I have a new computer, but not much else has changed. Oh, wait...the mood at the office is at a record low, what with the impending lay-offs and all. I am more thankful than ever that I am able to work from home exclusively, and can avoid the toxicity of the low morale of others. My own low morale is fairly easily remedied by a lunchtime walk with the puppies. (Is there anything a warm puppy can't fix?)

Wednesday was my first pay day in a year. I had made a little bit of money in May and June doing supply work for the local elementary school, but I couldn't really count that as "income". Revenue Canada could, but I couldn't. Wednesday's pay cheque, however, was a pay cheque with impact. It made me remember why I was doing this "going back to a job I can't stand" thing: we now have exactly 10% less debt than we did on Tuesday. Also, as of Saturday, we will have a brand new vacuum cleaner to replace the one that up and died on Tuesday. (Okay, maybe the one thing a puppy can't do much about.) These are exciting times in the Saedighverse.

The puppies may actually have contributed to the vaccuum death. But all the other stuff makes it so worth it ;-)

Less debt feels good, I'm sure!
